302 LU BAI HE GU JIN PIAN
Moisten the Lung Formula – Strengthening Lung function since 1682 A.D.

TCM Therapeutic Actions:
Nurtures Lung and Kidney Yin; relieves Heat; nurtures the Lung to relieve phlegm, moistens intestines.

TCM Indications:
Conditions caused by Lung and Kidney Yin deficiency and other syndromes of cough due to dryness of the Lung, with symptoms of sore throat, dryness of the pharynx, cough, dyspnea, and bloody sputum, night coughs and night sweats.

Modern Indications:
Acute or chronic bronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, chronic pharyngitis.

 

Contraindications:
Chronic usage or large dosages are not recommended in cases of edema, hypokalemia, kidney disorders, hypertension and congestive heart failure.

TCM Contraindications:
Do not use for acute cough due to EPI. Caution: This formula can be cloying and aggravate dampness and Spleen deficiency, and impair digestion. Do not use in postpartum patients with blood stagnation or those still bleeding. Use caution with loose stools, abdominal bloating, Yin-deficient heat or excess conditions.

Pharmaceutical Interactions:
This formula may INCREASE the effects of sedative drugs, Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI’s), anticoagulants and antiplatelets; may increase potassium loss with diuretics and
laxatives, which may interfere with antiarrhythmics. This formula may DECREASE plasma glucose levels, and may decrease the effects of antihypertensive agents, antidiabetic medications.
This formula may have estrogen-like activity, causing hypertension and fluid retention when used with oral contraceptives. May decrease endogenous testosterone levels in men and
women with polycystic ovary disease. May increase the half-life of systemic corticosteroids.

Comments:
This formula is more enriching than Yang Yin Qing Fei Pian (304 LU). Use when cough is worse at night and throat is worse in the late afternoon, but not especially red or inflamed. In
severe cases or in early stages, may increase dose 50% for a few weeks, then decrease as symptoms improve.

Recommended Usage:
2-3 tablets twice daily with warm water.
